Rotary’s Interact Clubs promote global understanding and goodwill. The Interactors are between the ages of 12 to 18 and most Interact Clubs are with local high schools.
Vancouver Rotary Interact Club is sponsored with Columbia River High School. This is a dynamic group of students who have completed many service projects for our community. Some of these projects include support of the composting initiative and installation of the schools solar panel system. Our Interactors have participated in Santa’s Posse, collecting food an other needed items during Christmas, annual Trick or Can event at Halloween collecting canned food for the Fruit Valley Food Bank, and participating in many of Rotary’s hands on events such as Earth Day tree planting.
International projects include raising funds Haiti to provide LifeStraws for clean water, and support of Rotary’s Polio Plus campaign to end polio. Several students have been involved helping to build sports courts in South America over the summer and spring break.
In 2011 our Interact Club has been awarded Rotary’s Presidential Citation recognizing their strong commitment to community and international service.
Rotaract Clubs are for young adults between the ages 18 to 30. One of the goals of Rotaract Clubs is promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service. These clubs can be college based or community based. Vancouver Rotary Club sponsors a community based Rotaract Club who just received their charter in 2011. Our Rotaract members are enthusiastic and their service projects this year have included taking the lead with the Stream Team Earth Day tree planting.
